Hugh began his career as a Disney Imagineer at age 24 and has continued to use his extraordinary vision, creation and planning acumen to innovate the tourism space through the cruise and private island development industry.
Across the decades, he has received numerous awards for many projects as a creator and vision planner. Renowned for his work in the development of cruise ports and private islands, Darley innovated the industry as a creator and vision planner for ports such as Falmouth Jamaica, awarded Port of the Year Winner in 2017 by “Cruise Insider”; Harvest Caye, named Best New Cruise Port in 2019 by Porthole Magazine; and Tortola Pier Park (British Virgin Islands).
An award-winning conceptual designer, he created and developed aspects of the iconic Casino destinations such as Circus-Circus Enterprises’ LUXOR and Wynn Resort’s Treasure Island Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
In 1997, he was honored with the TEA Attraction of the Year Award as Creator and Executive Producer of “Star Trek the Experience” for Paramount Parks, Paramount Pictures for Hilton Nevada Corporation. Other themed entertainment project creations include Wayne’s World Attractions, Top Gun Roller Coasters and Days of Thunder Simulator Rides for Paramount Parks; Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. for Viacom Entertainment Group; and Daytona USA, Daytona Beach Florida for International Speedway Corp., the 1994 Award Winner Attraction for the Year; and added value concepts for the Biltmore Estate Winery, Asheville North Carolina.
